The Bill Thomas Cheetah was a fibreglass sports car car built from 1963 to 1966 by Chevrolet performance tuner Bill Thomas as a competitor to Carroll Shelbys Cobra. Best estimates indicate as many as 23 cars were built. The fire destroying his factory on 9 September 1965 caused Bill to move onto other projects. Fiberglass Trends went on to produce their own version of the Cheetah under the name GTR, from 1965 till at least 1989. Their version was primarily aimed at drag racers.
